Our WORK
A few highlights of our Environmental work.
- Organized and engaged in environmental programs and projects in Bekaa and Beirut.
- Participated in an environmental program in Japan by invitation of the Japanese Embassy in Beirut.
- Conducted lectures addressing environmental issues such as water and vegetable pollution, hunting laws, osteoporosis, drug dangers, smoking hazards, and mad cow disease.
- Held annual reforestation and cleaning campaigns in the Bekaa Valley.
- Provided training sessions on household waste management.
- Received the Arab Environmental Award from UNEP.
- Took part in UNEP's Children’s Summit across Japan (2005, 2010), Malaysia (2006), Norway (2008), South Korea (2009), and Indonesia (2011).
- Collaborated with Environment and Development magazine, contributing articles on Bekaa's environmental concerns.
- Participated in the Billion Tree campaign, planting approximately 50,000 conifers in Bekaa Valley.
- A Sawa Association for Development member serves as a Junior Board member with UNEP for West Asia.
- Conducted Green Technology Training in 2021, empowering 25 women from Agricultural Cooperatives in Bekaa to adopt eco-friendly practices and combat climate change effects.
- Celebrated World Environment Day 2021 with a visit to Natural Reserves in Akkar, focusing on biodiversity preservation, particularly Orchids.
